After the Launch...
Blunder Babe is three weeks old tomorrow. I wish I could say it has been everything I thought it would be, but much like bringing a new baby home, you are never fully prepared.
The last few weeks have been filled with planning upcoming book signings, reaching out to contacts, writing, interviews, tweaking the webpage and soliciting newspapers to send announcements and pitches to for publicity - all following sleepless nights wondering if the 100 people that are now reading the story are enjoying it. I was not prepared for the vulnerability that accompanies having the world judge your work. Blunder Babe was a secret for so long only discussed with my closest friends and now it is out of the closet and in the public eye. It is not only unsettling, but bizarre – in an exciting way. Now I have to figure out how to market myself and sell books. I read somewhere that the magic number is 5,000. If you can sell 5,000 books on your own, you will be noticed by a publishing house…..fingers crossed!
Even though I am out of my comfort zone and I have a long road ahead of me, I definitely feel a sense of accomplishment and am happy that the book is no longer sitting in a drawer waiting for one day to come. The day is here…let the chips fall where they may. Oh boy.
